10 Things that made me happy in the last 2 months
1. Long walks with my hubby - Sherwood Island Park (Westport, CT)
2. Phone call from Maika and Misha - especially my leaving them "singing" voice mails
3. Thoughts of spring break with Maika and Misha
4. Finding a nice house - to rent or to buy
5. Trip to Paris - complete with dinner at the King's Dining Hall at Versailles
6. Finishing 2 Ken Follet books: Pillars of the Earth and World without End
7. My very short dirive to work via Beachside Road - with the view of Long Island Sound
8. Being awakened by Gracie (baby girl cat) walking... (more)

Life in Southport

To say that living in Connecticut, particularly here in Southport, has so far been interesting, is a total understatement. Just ask Norm. Aside from living in Legaspi for a couple of years in the late 70's, he's lived mostly in Ohio, with a couple of gigs in West Viriginia and Florida - making him a true Midwesterner. Which is why he is definitely having a reaction here.
Southport is actually part of Fairfield, but insists on having their own name and be its own town. The city of Fairfield's claim to fame is that it made it to the Top 10 Best Places to live in the US. But even that did... (more)

I guess, it's goodbye again - after only 1 year, I left Dell.
Let's just say that it was not what I expected.
So moving on. To another company at another state.
Just like that.

Living a Life that makes sense

This is my take on what is going down with regards to my current company and my own sanity.
First off, I'm not going to say that I made a mistake by leaving a very stable company for a much younger one - one that experienced growing pains, but thought that it got wiser as it got older. I made that decision so I will stand by what I did. And besides, I don't like looking back, and being filled with regrets. The only regret that I have is not doing it sooner.
As I write this, Gracie, our new kitten, has demanded her spot on my lap. Typing was never a strength, so now that I have to... (more)

Muning and Gracie

Muning, Dazzle's gift to us from her trip to the US in 1997, has been the boss of this household for a while now, that is, until Gracie came along.
Muning is a short-haired American, black and white cat - very aloof, almost snobby. He prefers Norm and Misha over Maika. He just totally ignores me. On the other hand, he shows concern and interest when a member of our household is sick, even me. He seldom sleeps in my bed, prefers Misha, of course, but when I am stressed, or just feeling blue, my bed becomes his hang-out until I feel better.
I was never a cat person. Actually, I'm not a... (more)

What's on your Ipod?

My girls gave me an Ipod Nano for my birthday (or was it on Mother's Day?). They also gave me a George Foreman Grill - the latest one with all the fancy plates you can use for different dishes; it's no longer just a grill, you can do all kinds of stuff - I just wish that it could fix dinner by itself!
Very generous, my girls! They bought these gifts with their own money. What can I say, they are pretty awesome.
Anyway, back to my Ipod. It took me about a couple of weeks to learn to download music, and another week to create a playlist. But now that I know, I cannot take a walk without... (more)

So now that I no longer work for Toyota, I wonder what they will do to all the ads where I was part of a crowd to show a diverse workforce - sabit lang naman. Parang extra.
(more)

Saying Goodbye..

After almost 8 years, am getting ready to say goodbye to my company.
I never thought that it was going to be difficult, but it's been heart breaking. I am leaving with a heavy heart since I still love this company - but I need to move on.

To Write more, to Pray more, to Wear more colors

Exactly!
I'm finding myself having less things to say these days. Or just trying to be brief in everything. Probably because I'm around people at work who talk too much. I just don't like people who talk too much and I'm so paranoid of becoming one of them that I vowed to be brief - in my report, in my presentation etc. This, however does not help the writer in me. Yes, I have to finally admit that I'm a writer.
I went to a writer's meeting 2 weeks ago and one of the things that writers don't want to say out loud is that they are indeed writers for fear of being identified and found... (more)

My Scion

First, a disclaimer.
I am not really this obsessed about material things. Just wanted to share the giddy feeling of driving this car. After driving the 4Runner for years, driving the Scion tC makes me feel like a 17 year old. Yes, to be a teen-ager again (at least in my own mind).
So here it is, complete with a vanity plate that says: PINAY1
